The mouth of madness
So, my recent convalescence has seen me watching an unhealthy amount of Star Trek. Today saw the arrival of a sizable pay cheque, and this has sadly enabled my addiction further. Today I purchased Star Trek the Animated Series. It’s the greatest thing I’ve seen in the whole of today… except for Diamonds are forever, but a close second at least!
The animation is so limited that it’s almost non existent and the acting is as campy as it is in the original series. Honestly it’s totally charming and ridiculous. It’s interesting to see Trek in a half hour format too. The animation was handled by Filmation, a company you probably know best as the makers of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. You can always spot a filmation production, their style of limited animation is very distinct.
Especially amusing in the animated trek is how buff everyone is. Scotty especially, from certain angles, appears to be strong enough to tear a hooker in half like a phone book. Come to think of it, that sounds like it would be an accurate description of Mr. Scott’s shore leaves I should imagine.
Well, it grows late and I really should see if tonight is going to be the night that this infection finally lets me get some sleep. I leave you tonight with a different take on animated trek, as seen on G4 tv in a fairly recent ad camaign promoting their “Trek 2.0” program block. Enjoy.
Art work. Dope.
